Essential information: Berwick - Alciston

Total distance: 5.7 miles (shortcut 2.6 miles) Total ascent: 359 feet Start is at car park opposite "The Cricketers" in Berwick free).  Access by bus is not advised. The nearest train station is Berwick which is a mile away. A pleasant, short and flat walk. Ideal for children or for a summer stroll. The Cricketers is a particularly fine pub to visit. A very short diversion to get to the "Charleston Trust" for those interested in the activities of the Bloomsbury Group.
How to get there By car: Berwick is just off the A27 road linking  Brighton to Eastbourne. If travelling from  Brighton, turn right just before you get to the rounabout for Alfriston. Berwick is just 7.5  miles from Eastbourne  By train: Get off the train  at Berwick Station.  Turn right as you leave the station to head  south towards the A27.  300 yards before you  meet the A27 is a right hand fork. Take the  fork and the road to Berwick will be opposite  when you meet the A27.
